Contract Personnel are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established local food processing plant, who are seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer with an electrical bias to join their engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, supporting production through effective maintenance, fault finding, and continuous improvement.

The Role:

As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining site equipment, ensuring production efficiency, and upholding high standards of food safety, GMP, and Health & Safety.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Championing and maintaining Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards across the site
  • Fault finding and troubleshooting across electrical, mechanical, and control systems
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on machinery
  • Monitoring and optimising production processes to maximise efficiency and performance
  • Responding promptly to breakdowns to minimise downtime
  • Accurately recording maintenance activities and equipment performance
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives
  • Promoting and ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Undertaking additional duties as required to support business objectives

About you:

  • Recognised qualifications or certifications in multi-skilled engineering
  • Proven engineering experience within a food manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with PLC systems and automation
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems maintenance
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Flexible approach to shift work, including rotating shifts and weekend cover
  • Positive, proactive, and reliable
  • Methodical, organised, and safety-focused
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, changing production environment
  • Resilient and adaptable with a strong work ethic

Job Details:

  • Full-time, permanent
  • Monday to Friday
    • 1 week early shift: 6am – 2:30pm
    • 1 week late shift: 2pm – 10:30pm
  • Salary: up to £48,500 per annum, DOE
  • Overtime: available at time and a half
