Multi-Skilled Engineer (Night shift)

Are you a hands-on engineering professional with the leadership skills to keep a factory running at its best? We’re looking for a Multi-Skilled Engineer (Night shift) to take charge of our engineering function during night shifts, driving maintenance excellence, rapid breakdown response, and continuous improvement across site.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this pivotal role is the senior engineering presence on shift. In the Manager’s absence, you’ll take full responsibility for team performance, providing direction, technical expertise, and practical support while actively working on factory equipment alongside your engineers.

Shifts:

  • 4on 4off
  • 3pm to 3am

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Prioritise maintenance and breakdown activities to ensure maximum uptime.
  • Act as the key decision-maker and senior point of contact on site overnight.
  • Maintain production and site services equipment to the highest standard.
  • Carry out expert fault-finding, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis to prevent repeat failures.
  • Implement and optimise Planned Preventative Maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure full, accurate capture of all works through CMMS systems and strict stock control adherence.
  • Identify engineering upgrades that enhance efficiency, sustainability, and OEE.
  • Support capital projects and the introduction of new machinery with seamless integration.
  • Work cross-functionally with production and factory management to deliver practical, innovative solutions.
  • Champion initiatives that reduce energy use, waste, and maintenance costs.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with health & safety regulations and company policies.
  • Participate in audits and proactively address engineering-related risks.
  • Uphold statutory requirements including PUWER, LOLER, and DESEAR.
  • On-time completion of planned maintenance
  • Reduction in unplanned downtime
  • Improvements in OEE and efficiency
  • Full compliance with audits and inspections
  • Demonstrable cost and energy savings
  • 100% stock accuracy and CMMS record capture

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
