Role Overview:
At Sofina Foods, our engineering teams play a vital role in keeping our operations running safely, efficiently and reliably. We're looking for a Multi-Skilled Engineer to join our production site in Malton, where you'll help ensure the performance and reliability of equipment that supports the production of high-quality food products every day.
This is an opportunity to join a skilled and collaborative engineering team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You'll be responsible for maintaining factory plant and equipment, responding to breakdowns, driving continuous improvement and helping minimise downtime across the site.
Working closely with colleagues across Engineering and Production, you'll play a key role in supporting operational performance while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance.
Please note: this site processes pork products.
With a structured shift pattern and clear progression opportunities, this is a role that offers both stability and long-term potential in a fast-moving, forward-thinking environment.
4 on 4 off Nights (5:30pm -5:30am)
Key Duties:
As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you'll:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond effectively to equipment breakdowns
- Maintain factory plant and production equipment to maximise reliability and performance
- Support root cause analysis activities and implement effective corrective actions
- Work collaboratively with production teams to minimise downtime and improve operational efficiency
- Ensure all engineering activities are completed safely and in line with site procedures and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering function
- Support lean manufacturing and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance with engineering standards
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability and safety

The Ideal Candidate:
We're looking for someone with a proactive approach, strong technical capability and a commitment to delivering high standards.
You'll ideally have:
- A recognised NVQ Level 3 qualification in Engineering, or equivalent
- Strong electrical and mechanical engineering knowledge with the ability to work across multiple disciplines
- Experience working within a manufacturing or production environment
- A good understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation
- Experience of continuous improvement, lean manufacturing or TPM principles
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- The ability to prioritise workload and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the business
- A commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence
It would be advantageous if you also have:
- Experience working within the food manufacturing sector
- Experience working with production equipment such as injectors, thermoformers, slicers, grinders, box/carton formers
- Breathing Apparatus and Fire Fighting certification or experience
