Multi Skilled Fabric Engineer - Edinburgh - Salary up to £40,000 DOE

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Fabric Engineer to join a well-established Facilities Management and Building Services team. This is an excellent opportunity to work across a varied portfolio of commercial properties, carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and general fabric repairs to ensure buildings remain safe, compliant and in excellent condition.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality building fabric maintenance while providing excellent customer service and ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive fabric maintenance across commercial properties.
  • Complete a wide range of building fabric repairs, including carpentry, joinery, painting and decorating, patch plastering, tiling and general repairs.
  • Repair and maintain doors, locks, windows, ceilings, flooring and other building fixtures and fittings.
  • Undertake basic plumbing repairs, such as replacing taps, toilets and pipework, where required.
  • Carry out minor building alterations and refurbishment works.
  • Inspect buildings and identify defects, reporting any additional maintenance requirements.
  • Complete maintenance records and job reports accurately using electronic maintenance management systems.
  • Liaise professionally with clients and site contacts, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
  • Assist other engineering disciplines where required and participate in an on-call rota if applicable.

About You:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working as a Fabric Engineer, Maintenance Operative, Handyperson or Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician within a commercial environment.
  • A strong background in general building fabric maintenance.
  • Practical experience in carpentry, joinery, painting, decorating, patch plastering and general building repairs.
  • Basic plumbing and maintenance skills.
  • Good fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
  • A strong understanding of Health & Safety procedures.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Relevant trade qualification (Carpentry, Joinery or Building Maintenance).
  • Experience working within Facilities Management.
  • IPAF, PASMA or other relevant health and safety certifications.
  • Experience working across commercial offices, healthcare, education, retail or industrial sites.
