- Shifts: Various start and finish times
- Pay Scale: Band 2 - Salary Range £26,696 - £28,988 per annum
- Additional Allowance: Distant Islands Allowance of £2,578 per annum
Role Summary
Generic Support Worker Hotel Services within Cleaning (Non-Clinical Role)
We are recruiting Generic Support Workers to join the Hotel Services Department at NHS Shetland. These non-clinical support roles are crucial in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across NHS Shetland sites, in line with NHS Scotland national standards.
This role offers a varied and rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys a flexible and diverse set of duties. Generic Support Workers provide support across a range of Domestic Services areas, contributing to the delivery of high-quality services throughout NHS Shetland.

- Deliver essential cleaning and support services across the organisation.
- Help ensure our facilities remain safe, comfortable, and fit for purpose for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Work predominantly Monday to Friday, with occasional evening, night, and weekend shifts to cover annual leave, sickness absence, and other staffing shortfalls.
- Enhanced pay is available for eligible night and weekend shifts.
Requirements
- Good communication skills.
- Flexibility, reliability, and the ability to work well under pressure.
- Full training and induction will be provided, followed by ongoing support from experienced colleagues until you are fully competent in all aspects of the role, including relevant procedures and documentation.
- A full driving licence is desirable, as you may be required to work at sites across Shetland.
