Job Title: Maintenance Engineer
Location: Derby
Salary: Up to £50,000
Shift: Permanent Late Shift - 4:00pm to 1:00am
Job Role of the Maintenance Engineer
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Maintenance Engineer to join a growing FMCG business in Derby.
This is a hands-on, multi-skilled maintenance role working on production and packaging machinery across the site. You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults and support the continued reliability and safe operation of the site's equipment.
The role will suit an experienced engineer who is confident working independently on a permanent late shift and can support both electrical and mechanical maintenance requirements.
The site operates in a cold production environment, typically between 0°C and 5°C.

Non-Negotiable Requirements of the Maintenance Engineer
- 18th Edition / BS7671 qualification.
- Recognised Engineering qualification.
- Multi-skilled maintenance experience.
- PLC skills.

Requirements for the Maintenance Engineer
- Diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical faults.
- Working on pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Fault-finding across production equipment.
- Reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Prioritising maintenance activity to reduce downtime and disruption to production.
- Supporting safety and site-maintenance standards.
- Assisting with general site maintenance and contractor support when required.
Desirable Requirements for the Maintenance Engineer
- Electrical bias.
- Previous FMCG or food-manufacturing experience.
- Experience with sealing or vacuum-packing machinery.
- Experience with SCADA, PCB fault-finding or additional control systems.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement or preventative-maintenance improvements.
