Salary: Competitive

Hours: Rotating Shift:

  • Week 1: Monday to Friday 07.00 am to 16.00
  • Week 2: Monday to Friday 14.00 to 22.00 with a 60-minute unpaid lunch break; Saturday working hours 08.00 am to 13.00

The Role

  • Carry out planned and reactive electrical and mechanical maintenance across filling, can-seaming, packing, and blow moulding equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults quickly to minimise downtime and maximise production efficiency.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and continuous improvement of automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Maintain production plant, building services, and ancillary equipment to the highest operational standards.
  • Perform electrical installations and repairs in line with current 18th Edition regulations.
  • Fault-find on PLC-controlled systems, AC/DC drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, and CCP equipment including metal detectors.
  • Complete maintenance activities, inspections, and reporting through the site's CMMS system.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Health & Safety, BRCGS Food Safety, and Hygiene standards.
  • Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to deliver business targets and improve equipment reliability.
  • Demonstrate a proactive, solution-focused approach when troubleshooting and resolving plant issues.

About You

  • City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Multi-Skilled Engineering.
  • 18th Edition qualified with experience carrying out electrical installations and maintenance in an industrial environment.
  • Strong fault-finding skills across PLC-controlled machinery, electrical controls, AC/DC drives, motors, and pumps.
  • Solid understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics, ideally within automated production and packaging equipment.
  • Experience maintaining high-speed manufacturing machinery, ideally including filling lines, can seamers, and blow moulding equipment.
  • Apprentice-trained background desirable, with proven experience in a fast-paced manufacturing, production, or food manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements, with knowledge of BRCGS Food Safety and Hygiene standards advantageous.
  • Proactive and hands-on approach with excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding production environment.
  • A commitment to delivering high standards of workmanship, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Desirable

  • Food, edible oils, dairy, FMCG, or packaging manufacturing experience.
  • Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of metal detection systems and Critical Control Point (CCP) equipment.
  • Previous experience supporting automated filling, seaming, packing, or bottle manufacturing operations.
