Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Location: Cambridge, UK
Salary: £43,000 per annum
£3,188 annual standby allowance (following successful completion of probation and participation in a 1-in-3 standby rota)
overtime opportunities

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

The Opportunity

We're recruiting on behalf of a long-established and respected food manufacturing business with over 100 years of industry success. Specialising in the sourcing and processing of rice and grains for UK manufacturers and wholesalers, our client continues to invest in its people, equipment, and future growth.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Multi-Skilled Engineer looking to join a stable business where your expertise will play a key role in maintaining and improving production operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative and condition-based maintenance across a range of electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Respond to reactive breakdowns, diagnosing faults and completing repairs efficiently.
  • Manufacture and repair components using workshop machinery including lathes, milling machines, and welding equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by working closely with production teams to enhance equipment performance and reliability.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using a CMMS system.
  • Coordinate and liaise with on-site contractors when required.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain technical knowledge and professional competence.

What We're Looking For

  • Level 3 Engineering qualification (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience within a Food Manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Strong electro-mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings.
  • Experience working with milling equipment.
  • Good knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • PLC programming knowledge would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • A proactive approach to fault finding, problem solving, and continuous improvement.
