Job title: Unit Maintenance Technician (Multi-Skilled Engineer)

Location: Telford

Contract: Permanent / Full time

Salary: £57,289 per annum plus paid overtime at 1.5x rate

Hours / Shift: 4 on 4 off rotating days and nights, 7am – 7pm / 7pm – 7am (42 hours on average)

About the role:

Müller Yogurt & Desserts is the UK's leading yogurt manufacturer, producing household brands including Müllerlight, Müller Corner and Müller Rice. From our state-of-the-art Telford site, we manufacture high-quality products enjoyed by millions of consumers every day.

We're looking for a highly skilled Unit Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering team in Telford. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer to work within a fast-paced, highly automated manufacturing environment, supporting production through both planned and reactive maintenance activities.

You'll play a key role in maximising equipment reliability, reducing downtime, driving continuous improvement and ensuring our manufacturing assets operate safely and efficiently.

What you'll be doing:

  • Carrying out reactive maintenance to minimise downtime and support production performance
  • Completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities through our CMMS maintenance system
  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical, mechanical and automation faults
  • Maintaining pumps, valves, filling equipment, process systems and fast-moving production machinery
  • Ensuring all equipment is safe and fully operational before returning it to service
  • Identifying root causes of equipment failures and implementing permanent corrective actions
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and efficiency
  • Working collaboratively with Production and Operational teams to achieve site performance targets
  • Maintaining engineering standards that support safety, quality and OEE performance

What we're looking for:

Essential:

  • Time-served engineering apprenticeship, HNC or equivalent engineering qualification
  • Experience working within a multi-skilled maintenance environment
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
  • Experience maintaining machinery within manufacturing, production, process or FMCG environments
  • Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and automated production lines
  • Experience of preventative maintenance systems and planned maintenance activities
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced operational environment
  • Excellent communication and team-working skills

Desirable:

  • Food, dairy, beverage or FMCG manufacturing experience
  • Knowledge of filling and process technology
  • Experience using CMMS maintenance systems
  • Continuous improvement experience
