Shift Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) – Sittingbourne

Salary: £55,382 per annum plus overtime & benefits Hours: 42 hours per week Shift Pattern: 4 on + 4 off (days & nights), 6:00am – 6:00pm Location: Sittingbourne (ME10 3NB)

We’re expanding our Engineering team, offering career growth, learning, and recognition. This role is for a multi-skilled maintenance engineer with an electrical expertise bias to join our SLGC Division at Ashford.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure continuous production by minimising downtime through safe and systematic fault detection, diagnosis, and repair of complex systems.
  • Lead a range of planned and reactive engineering maintenance tasks across diverse equipment:
    • Hydraulic systems
    • Pneumatic systems
    • Electrical/electronic control systems
  • Support site operations: maintenance, breakdown, reactive, and predictive interventions in line with Marshalls’ services.
  • Work proactively to improve operational efficiency, sharing knowledge and best practices with the team.

Mission-Critical Skills & Qualifications

  • Must be fully trained (apprentice or conditionally qualified mechanic or electrician).
  • Prefers candidates with electrical bias (capable of repairing and fault-finding on industrial electrical equipment), including:
    • BS/IEC 18th Edition certification (or equivalent/HVT qualification).
    • Development qualifications such as C&G 2320 P1/P2, ONC, or NVQ Level 3.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety, environmental regulations, and ASRS standards.
  • Reliance on a practical and problem-solving approach with expertise in:
    • Fault diagnosis, rectification, and maintenance (both scheduled and corrective).
    • Work rate optimisation and logical thinking.
    • Equipment health monitoring (predictive, detection).
  • Soft skills:
    • Communication with teams at operational level (e.g., operatives & team leaders from production).
    • Basic proficiency in PLC programming and familiarity with variable speed drives (VSD).
    • Beneficial if experienced in hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical fitting.
