Are you an experienced engineer with both mechanical and electrical skills? Do you enjoy getting to the root cause of issues, improving equipment reliability and making a lasting impact on site performance?
We're looking for a Multi-Skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our Bristol bakery on a permanent days-based pattern. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in asset care, planned preventative maintenance and continuous improvement, helping us maintain the high standards that keep the nation's favourite bakery running.
At Warburtons, you'll be part of a business that's proudly family-owned, investing in both its people and its facilities. If you're looking for a role where you can take ownership, develop your skills and make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.
The Recipe
As a Multi-Skilled Manufacturing Engineer, you'll work closely with production, safety, hygiene and engineering colleagues to ensure our equipment performs safely, efficiently and reliably.
Working as part of the site engineering team, you'll focus on preventative maintenance, asset care and continuous improvement activities across a wide range of bakery and packaging equipment.
The Role
You'll be responsible for:

- Supporting asset care programmes and helping drive a proactive maintenance culture.
- Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical faults using a structured approach to problem solving.
- Identifying recurring equipment issues and implementing robust, long-term solutions.
- Contributing to continuous improvement projects that improve efficiency, reduce downtime and optimise asset performance.
- Working safely and ensuring engineering activities are completed in line with site standards and procedures.
- Collaborating with production teams and key stakeholders to improve operational performance.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and supporting engineering best practices.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
