The Opportunity

As a Multi Skilled Operative within our rail operation at Torr, you’ll support the day-to-day running of the rail loading facilities and wider quarry operations. This is a varied role that will see you working across different tasks including plant operation, site maintenance and supporting the loading of aggregates onto trains, this will be working on a 3 shift rotation.

You’ll be part of a team responsible for ensuring materials are moved safely, efficiently and in line with production and logistics schedules. The role offers the chance to develop new operational skills, work with specialist equipment and build a long-term career within quarry and rail logistics operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting the safe and efficient loading of rail wagons within the rail distribution operation
  • Operating mobile plant and equipment where trained and authorised
  • Carrying out routine operational duties across the quarry and rail loading areas
  • Working closely with the rail operations and site teams to ensure production targets are met
  • Carrying out basic inspections, housekeeping and site maintenance activities
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in line with Health & Safety procedures and site standards
  • Identifying and reporting any safety concerns, defects or operational issues
  • Supporting preventative maintenance activities where required
  • Completing operational records and documentation accurately
  • Contributing to a strong safety culture through proactive reporting and safe working practices

What You’ll Bring

Desirable:

  • Previous experience within quarrying, heavy industry, rail operations or plant operations
  • Mobile plant experience (e.g. loading shovel, excavator or similar)
  • Experience working in an industrial or production environment
