Multi Skilled Operative

Location: Edinburgh - EH16 4TD

Salary: £14.37 per hour

As a Multi Skilled Operative, you will play a key role in supporting car pound operations, maintaining public spaces, and delivering essential parking and street management services. The role is a combination of office-based and on-the-road work, with high standards of personal appearance, conduct, and integrity expected.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Handling public enquiries professionally.
  • Processing vehicle releases and payments.
  • Maintaining accurate records and audit trails.
  • Supporting removal vehicle operations.
  • Enforcing parking regulations and issuing Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs).
  • Managing street suspensions and permits.
  • Using radio communication to coordinate work activities.
  • Keeping the car pound clean and tidy.
  • Maintaining GDPR processes when receiving personal and vehicle documentation from members of the public.
  • Providing information to Despatch Controllers and the Pound Manager.
  • Providing relief and cover for other staff during periods of absence.
  • Liaising with members of the public and providing advice on parking issues and enforcement procedures in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Undertaking duties in accordance with the relevant Quality Assurance systems and procedures.

What We Are Looking For

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A self-motivated and customer-focused approach.
  • The ability to work shifts, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
  • The ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • The ability to communicate with customers, including in difficult and demanding circumstances.
  • The ability to write simple reports.
  • Good customer-service skills.
  • GCSE or equivalent qualifications in English and Maths.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and represent NSL with clients when required.

The role is 40 hours per week, working up to five days each week on a rotating schedule covering Monday to Sunday, including weekends and Bank Holidays. Rotas are provided four weeks in advance to support planning. Flexible working arrangements will be considered for applicants seeking part-time positions.
