Multi Skilled Operative
Halecombe Quarry & Asphalt Plant, Frome

We are currently recruiting for a Multi Skilled Operative to join our team at Tarmac Halecombe Quarry and Asphalt Plant in Frome.
The site is easily accessible from Frome, Nunney, Shepton Mallet, Warminster, Trowbridge, Bath, Midsomer Norton, Gillingham, Glastonbury and surrounding areas.
Importantly, you don't need extensive industry experience to be successful. We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds and provide training and development opportunities for the right candidate.
What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Section Manager, you'll play a key role in producing high-quality aggregate materials for the construction industry while maintaining the highest standards of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating mobile and fixed plant equipment
- Working closely with colleagues to ensure customers receive quality materials and on-time deliveries
- Supporting the Supervisor in achieving daily and weekly production targets
- Carrying out plant inspections, identifying defects and supporting remedial actions
- Assisting with planned maintenance activities
- Maximising plant performance and availability
- Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards across site
- Following all Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and promoting a positive safety culture

What we're looking for
We're looking for a motivated team player who enjoys practical work and wants to build a long-term career within a leading organisation.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience working within an industrial, manufacturing, production, construction or similar environment
- Knowledge of plant operations, ideally within quarrying or mobile plant environments
- Good communication skills and the confidence to raise issues with management when required
- A flexible and proactive approach to work
- The ability to work effectively within a multi-skilled team
- A strong work ethic and excellent timekeeping
- Basic IT skills
- A full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Shovel Licence
- Experience working within an Asphalt Plant environment
