Who we are

VIVO provides facilities management and accommodation maintenance for the UK military and its partners. VIVO embodies both experience and innovation.

What we do

We put our Customers and Families First. They are the driving force behind everything we do. We drive forward improvements for them to ensure the service they receive, whether reactive repairs or a major project, is completed safely and on time. In order to achieve this, we have 4 core values: open, caring, agile and collaborative. These are at the heart of everything we do.

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Location: Garats Hay, Loughborough & DMRC Stanford Hall
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm

Make a real difference across the UK Defence estate

VIVO is looking for a practical, proactive and self-motivated Multi Skilled Operative to join our team supporting Garats Hay and the surrounding Defence estate. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced tradesperson or handyperson to take on a varied, hands-on role where no two days are quite the same.

Working across Garats Hay and a second nearby site, approximately 20 minutes apart, you will help keep a range of commercial buildings, offices and facilities safe, well maintained and operating effectively. The site you work from each day will depend on workload, giving you plenty of variety while allowing you to take real ownership of your work.

As a Multi Skilled Operative, you will be responsible for delivering predominantly planned maintenance, alongside occasional reactive maintenance and small works. You will use your practical skills to identify and resolve issues, complete maintenance tasks to a high standard and support the wider team in keeping the estate compliant and in excellent condition. Joinery-based skills would be particularly useful, although we are flexible on your trade background and are happy to provide training where required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

This is a role that offers genuine independence. You will be trusted to schedule your own tasks, plan your working day and manage your workload effectively, rather than having someone constantly directing your activities. The majority of the role will involve working independently and being the face of VIVO on site, with regular customer-facing interaction as a building custodian. You will need to be approachable, professional and confident when dealing with customers and site users.

Although you will predominantly work alone, you will be part of a wider team of five covering the area, with colleagues working together where tasks require two people. You will also have a work van and fuel card, allowing you to travel between the two sites and carry out your duties effectively.

We are looking for someone with previous experience as a handyperson, tradesperson or in a similar practical maintenance environment. The most important thing is having a hands-on approach, being able to solve problems and having the flexibility to turn your skills to a range of maintenance tasks. Experience of planned maintenance is desirable, particularly a joinery background, but training will be provided where needed.

You will also need to be comfortable using a smartphone, tablet and laptop, including Microsoft Office 365 and relevant VIVO systems, with training provided on specific applications. A practical qualification such as City & Guilds or BTEC would be advantageous.
