Multi Skilled Prevention Officer – 4 Month Contract
Location: Swindon
Rate: £16.68 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: 4 Month Contract
Hours: Full Time
Driving Licence Required
Pay: Bi-weekly
About the Role
We are recruiting for a Multi Skilled Prevention Officer to join Swindon Borough Council's Corporate Estates team.
This is a hands-on maintenance role for a qualified tradesperson who can carry out a wide range of repairs, compliance checks, preventative maintenance, and facilities support across the Council's operational buildings.
You will work across multiple trades, helping to ensure buildings remain safe, compliant, operational, and fit for purpose.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across corporate estate buildings.
- Complete repairs across a range of trades including carpentry, plumbing, plastering, and general building maintenance.
- Undertake daily, weekly, and monthly compliance checks.
- Support fire alarm testing, emergency response, and facilities management activities.
- Conduct on-site risk assessments and identify health and safety concerns.
- Facilitate contractor access and monitor works on site.
- Assist with office moves and building support activities.
- Use mobile technology to receive, manage, and update work orders.
- Carry out quality inspections and ensure compliance standards are met.
- Work safely in occupied and unoccupied buildings.
- Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials.
- Support emergency and out-of-hours works when required.

Essential Requirements
- Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in a core trade such as:
- Carpentry
- Plumbing
- Plastering
- Electrical
- Building Maintenance
- Experience working in building maintenance, repairs, or facilities management.
- Multi-trade repair experience.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
- Good IT skills, including the use of tablets and mobile technology.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.

- CSCS Card or Health & Safety qualification.
- Fire Marshal qualification.
- First Aid qualification.
- Asbestos Awareness training.
- Experience working within Local Authority or public sector environments.
- Experience of lone working.
