Multi Skilled Production Engineer
Role: Full-time. Permanent
Location: Fawdon, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne
Salary: Competitive + shift allowance + bonus + benefits
Shifts: Double days 6am-2pm/2pm-10pm mon- fri
The Role:
We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Production Engineer who will be part of the on-site manufacturing operational team, producing and packing to world-class pharmaceutical standards. As part of the engineering team, the role will be responsible for supporting all teams in the efficient running and engineering of the production equipment as well as the optimization and operation of high-speed packaging lines, formulation, and ancillary equipment, to meet productivity targets with compliance to schedule, documentation, safety, and GMP requirements.
You will provide Engineering support to Production Management to ensure the speed and quality of problem-solving on immediate production issues and ensure the execution of all Engineering activities required to maximize operational performance while adhering to standards required, GMP, and H&S.
- Ability to work as a flexible individual within a team, completing any given task to maximize performance, for example (but not inclusive), clean downs, changeovers, and set up, whilst identifying areas for improvement and taking the initiative for implementation and applying logical fault-finding diagnosis.
- You will execute PMI instructions within the set time scales, suggesting improvements and updates to Preventive Maintenance. Build quality into all repairs and modifications during engineering works carried out as part of The Manufacturing or Packaging process.
- Provide guidance and support in fault finding and problem-solving diagnosis to rectify machine breakdowns and performance problems including PLC/SCADA interrogation. Ability to respond to breakdown situations in a timely manner to minimize production downtime and maximize production and efficiency and carry out training as required for the upskilling of the production team.

The Person:
- You will be a strong team player with a flexible and open communication style with the ability to direct and train others, able to effectively communicate to all functions and provide technical support leadership.
- Familiarity with PC-based systems, e.g., engineering stores, Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM), Operational Electrical Equipment (OEE) and a knowledge of safe working practices, e.g., Lock & Tag Out (LOTO), Risk Assessment & Method Statements (RAMS), etc.
- Demonstrating a methodical approach for problem-solving/technical execution and assist in the development of projects working with the technical support team to perfect and streamline new and current processes.
- Time-served Engineer, with a recognized apprenticeship in Engineering, preferably qualified to HNC level.
- You will have PLC/SCADA troubleshooting Experience and CompEx certified or relevant experience of ATEX equipment/Hazardous Areas.
- Familiar with CMMS.
- Multi-skilled with preferred experience in a Pharmaceutical or Food environment. Able to demonstrate good fault-finding skills and have had exposure to Continuous Improvement and Lean Management techniques.
- Show a proactive mindset with the ability to work effectively within a team and have an understanding of how the job role can have a huge impact on the larger business. Always showing a 'can-do' flexible approach.
