Multi Skilled Shift Engineer

Fordham

Here at DS Smith we’re looking for an Multi Skilled Shift Engineer with factory experience to join our team and play a vital role in the ongoing development and maintenance of our site.

You will have experience of delivering excellent service within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. In this role you will be responsible for conducting preventative and reactive asset maintenance, focusing on the safety and reliability of our equipment to ensure they meet production demands.

You will use your experience to restore equipment during unplanned breakdowns as well as provide technical feedback on the assets to production and engineering stakeholders. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working closely with the management team to develop risk assessment, adhere to safe systems of work processes and deliver objective and performance targets.

Working Hours

  • 12 hour shifts, 4 on 4 off (x2 Days / x2 Nights) x 7 rotations before 18 days off. Due to the nature of the shift pattern there are no additional bookable holidays.

Role Responsibilities

  • Efficiently and effectively fault find and resolve technical / process issues
  • Resolve breakdown issues with minimal impact to production
  • Complete all maintenance activities on time as planned
  • Provide technical support for capital projects and improvement activity
  • Effectively communicate within and across departments using escalation procedures to manage issues and priorities
  • To comply with company purchasing procedures
  • Comply with stores procedures
  • To maintain a clean and tidy work area at all times
  • Be a proactive team member
  • To look to improve technical skills and knowledge for self and team

What we would like to see

  • Fully qualified electrically biased maintenance technician, accredited to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 or BTEC
  • You can demonstrate effective fault diagnostic and have excellent problem solving skills
  • Experience in autonomous maintenance practices, with a demonstrable background within a maintenance environment and within a factory is essential.
  • You will have worked in a fast paced, multi shift environment previously
  • A focus on Health and Safety in the workplace
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft tools, in particular Excel
