Multi-Utility Designer – UK
Join a leading utilities company recognised for innovation and service excellence. At Last Mile, we deliver high-quality solutions across the multi-utility sector, and as our team continues to grow, we’re looking to welcome a skilled Multi-Utility Designer to join us.
We’re looking for a Multi-Utility Designer to support Pre-Contract, Post-Contract or Variations activity, delivering coordinated electricity, gas and water designs across the full project lifecycle. From producing value-engineered proposals and quotations, through to managing design approvals, construction drawings and client variations, this role plays a key part in ensuring designs are accurate, compliant, commercially sound and ready to progress.
As a Multi-Utility Designer, you’ll work closely with internal teams, clients and external stakeholders to manage technical and commercial requirements, update and approve designs, and support smooth handovers from initial offer through to construction. This is a varied role offering exposure to early-stage design development, post-contract approvals and ongoing design changes on live projects.

Your responsibilities as a Multi-Utility Designer:
Pre-Contract
- Produce cost-effective, value-engineered multi-utility designs that meet client and industry requirements.
- Prepare accurate quotation documentation, including Bills of Quantities, Financial Summary Reports and Letters of Offer.
- Support technical and commercial validation and ensure a smooth handover of approved designs to post-contract teams.
Variations
- Manage and assess design variation requests, evaluating impacts on scope, cost and programme.
- Update designs and prepare revised quotations and documentation to reflect approved changes.
- Coordinate technical and commercial approvals, progressing variations through to client acceptance and construction handover.
Post-Contract
- Produce detailed multi-utility construction drawings and design approval packs for electricity, gas and water networks.
- Coordinate submissions and approvals with network operators, water incumbents and internal stakeholders.
- Manage design updates and issue approved-for-construction drawings to support safe and efficient project delivery.
