Multidisciplinary Biomedical Scientist: Haematology & Blood Transfusion
Location: Private Hospital, Croxley
Contract: Long-Term
Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week (including nights and weekends)
Pay Rate: £28 to £29 per hour
Start Date: Immediate
About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Multidisciplinary Biomedical Scientist to join a busy private hospital laboratory in Croxley. This role covers Haematology and Blood Transfusion, offering variety and clinical responsibility within a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
This is a long-term contract position with an immediate start, ideal for a confident, hands-on BMS who thrives working across disciplines and is comfortable with a full shift pattern, including nights and weekends.

Key Responsibilities
- Performing and validating routine and specialist testing across Haematology and Blood Transfusion
- Blood grouping, antibody screening, crossmatching and issue of blood components
- Reviewing and authorising patient results, escalating abnormal or unexpected findings appropriately
- Analyser operation, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting
- Participating in internal and external quality assurance schemes
- Supporting blood component inventory management and stock monitoring
- Maintaining full compliance with laboratory QMS, health and safety, and accreditation standards
- Working flexibly as part of the on-call/shift rota, including night and weekend cover

Requirements
- HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist
- Proven multidisciplinary experience across Haematology and Blood Transfusion
- Essential: experience working within busy London laboratories
- Confident working independently during night and weekend shifts
- Strong attention to detail and sound clinical judgement under pressure
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with clinical teams
