Salary: Competitive Reporting to: Website Editor / Deputy Website Editor

The Role

Reform UK is building a seven-day digital newsroom at its Westminster headquarters and is looking for hard-working, NCTJ-qualified Multimedia Reporter/Producers who can report, write and publish high-quality content at speed. The role sits at the heart of the party's ambition to build the Reform UK website into a significant national publishing operation.

This is not a traditional single-skill reporting job. You will be expected to break and develop stories, cover political events, write accurately and quickly, work confidently in the CMS, use video and other source material intelligently, create simple multimedia treatments and help turn assignments into complete digital packages.

What you'll do

  • Break original stories and respond quickly to the news
  • Find, report and write breaking news and original stories for the Reform UK website, with a strong focus on accuracy, speed, relevance and audience impact.
  • Develop contacts, source material and follow-ups rather than relying solely on rewriting or republishing material already available elsewhere.
  • Cover live speeches, events, interviews, policy announcements and political developments in Westminster and around the country when required.
  • Take ownership of assigned topics and stories, keeping important evergreen pages updated and building useful knowledge rather than treating every article as a one-off.

Key Responsibilities

Produce complete digital packages, not just copy

  • Use the CMS confidently to publish clean, well-presented articles with appropriate images, video, embeds, links, captions, source material and related content.
  • Write strong digital headlines and stories that are accurate, compelling and suited to the audience and platform.
  • Turn interviews, speeches and video into fresh news angles, explainers, clips or follow-ups rather than simply transcribing what happened.
  • Update policy, profile and topic pages when new information emerges, helping Reform UK build permanent authority as well as daily traffic.

Work fast while maintaining professional standards

  • Respond quickly to breaking news and changing priorities, moving comfortably between planned assignments, reactive stories and live political moments.
  • Verify claims and sources, distinguish fact from assertion and escalate legal, factual or editorial concerns.
  • Understand media law, copyright, privacy, defamation, contempt and responsible digital publishing, and follow the newsroom's approval and corrections processes.
  • Meet deadlines, communicate clearly when a story changes and keep editors informed about progress, risks, source issues or opportunities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Use digital tools, SEO and data intelligently

  • Apply basic-to-strong SEO principles to headlines, structure, keywords, links and updates, with support from senior editors where needed.
  • Use analytics and performance feedback to understand what audiences respond to and to improve future story selection, presentation and follow-up coverage.
  • Spot opportunities from search and social analytics, audience/member feedback, political events and under-covered angles, and pitch them proactively to senior colleagues.
  • Learn new workflows quickly, including CMS features, analytics dashboards, clipping/editing tools and AI-assisted workflows, where approved.

Contribute to a seven-day team culture

  • Work constructively with editors, other reporters, Video & Live and Brand Social Media so stories are shared, packaged and distributed effectively.
  • Be a reliable colleague: prepared to take a fair share of difficult shifts, help out during major news events and support teammates when the agenda becomes intense.

Performance and Standards:

  • Build expertise in named topic areas and become someone editors can rely on for fast, accurate context when those issues move.
  • Ask for feedback, develop new skills and take opportunities to broaden into interviewing, video, live coverage, data or other forms of multimedia reporting.
  • Understand that the role sits within Reform UK and requires political awareness, discretion, judgement and a professional understanding of the party's mission and priorities.
  • Work effectively with political figures, policy colleagues and media/campaign teams while following the newsroom's standards, ownership and approval processes.
  • Treat confidential information, embargoes, personal data and internal discussions appropriately and escalate uncertainty rather than making assumptions.
  • Represent the organisation professionally when reporting from events, conducting interviews or dealing with external sources and stakeholders.

THE PERSON

We are looking for ambitious digital journalists who are prepared to work hard, learn quickly and take real ownership of their output in a fast-growing political media environment.

Essential experience and capabilities

  • NCTJ qualified with experience working in a busy website, digital newsroom, publishing team or comparable high-output content environment.
  • Strong writing and reporting skills, with the ability to produce accurate, readable copy quickly and to find worthwhile follow-up angles.
  • Good news judgement and a genuine curiosity about British politics, public policy, current affairs and the issues that matter to Reform UK's audience.
  • Confidence using a CMS and the core tools of digital publishing, with the ability to learn unfamiliar systems quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail, including names, figures, sourcing, links, captions, embeds and proof reading.
  • A results-driven mindset and willingness to use performance data and editorial feedback to improve story selection and execution.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure, switch priorities quickly and maintain standards during breaking news or major political events.
  • A thoughtful, conscientious team-player with a track record of being reliable, constructive and willing to help colleagues.
  • A good understanding of SEO and the factors that help digital journalism reach audiences through search, social, LLMs and other discovery channels.
  • Awareness of media law, defamation, copyright, privacy and the importance of escalating legal or compliance concerns to senior editors.
  • Comfort working inside a mission-led political organisation, with appropriate discretion, professionalism and understanding of Reform UK's priorities.
  • Willingness to work full-time from Reform UK's Westminster HQ and take early, late and weekend shifts as part of a rota. Flexibility is a core requirement of the job.

Highly desirable

  • Experience breaking your own original stories, developing contacts and generating exclusive multimedia material rather than relying mainly on agency or rewrites.
  • Experience shooting or editing simple video, creating social treatments, working from transcripts or producing packages.
  • Strong practical SEO skills or experience writing evergreen explainers, topic pages or search-led journalism.
  • Experience covering Westminster, local government, elections, public policy, campaigning or other politically relevant beats.

Why join Reform UK?

This is an opportunity to join a newsroom at the point it is being built and to grow with it. Strong performers will have room to develop expertise, take ownership, broaden their multimedia skills and contribute directly to formats and coverage that reach a national audience.
