Join Our Growing UK Freight Forwarding Team
TCB Group is looking for a Multimodal Freight Forwarder to join our team in St Helens. This is a hands-on operational role offering the opportunity to manage international import and export shipments across ocean, air and road freight, with a particular focus on ocean freight.
Working as part of a small and experienced team, you will take ownership of shipments from initial quotation through to final delivery, coordinating every stage of the process and ensuring customers receive a reliable and responsive service. Key Responsibilities
- Manage import and export shipments from initial quotation through to final delivery.
- Coordinate international ocean, air and road freight movements, with a primary focus on ocean freight.
- Prepare and process import and export documentation.
- Assist with customs declarations and ensure relevant shipment documentation is completed accurately.
- Liaise closely with customers, overseas agents, shipping lines, airlines, hauliers and other suppliers.
- Prepare quotations and provide customers with competitive freight solutions.
- Create and maintain accurate job files within CargoWise.
- Monitor shipments throughout the transportation process and provide customers with regular updates.
- Proactively identify and resolve operational issues or delays.
- Process supplier costs and customer invoices accurately and efficiently.
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure a consistently high standard of customer service.
- Take ownership of individual shipments and ensure they are managed efficiently from start to finish.

About You
We're looking for a proactive and organised freight forwarding professional who enjoys taking ownership of shipments and delivering a high standard of service to customers. You'll be comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment, managing multiple shipments simultaneously and communicating with customers, suppliers and overseas partners.
Previous experience across every mode of transport is not essential. We're interested in candidates with a solid freight forwarding background who are keen to expand their knowledge across ocean, air and road freight.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience within freight forwarding or international logistics.
- Operational experience within at least one major transport mode, including ocean, air or road freight.
- Experience handling import and/or export shipments.
- Good understanding of the international freight forwarding process.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach to operational challenges.
- Willingness to learn and develop your knowledge across multiple freight modes.

Desirable Experience
- Previous multimodal freight forwarding experience.
- Experience handling both import and export shipments.
- Knowledge of customs procedures and customs declarations.
- Previous experience using CargoWise or a similar freight management system.
- Customs expertise is advantageous but is not essential for the position.
