About this Program
The Engineering Development Group (EDG) at MathWorks is a proven, excellent technical and leadership development program designed to cultivate the next generation of leaders and innovators within our Software Development organisation. As a member of EDG, you’ll have the flexibility to select your own projects and be mentored by industry experts in areas such as software engineering, quality engineering, user experience, technical writing, and more.
The program is designed to provide opportunities to support your learning and growth to successfully transition to the next step of your career at MathWorks. We offer technical learning opportunities in areas such as full-stack software development (with languages including C++, MATLAB, JavaScript and Go), high-performance computing, cloud computing integration, agentic AI, deep learning & text analytics, physical modelling, embedded systems, text analytics, code generation & verification and wireless communications.

Responsibilities
As part of our Development organisation, you will join a diverse and collaborative team, contributing to impactful software engineering projects. Additionally, EDG team members will gain experience with MathWorks products and user workflows through direct interactions with customers. This unique blend of work is designed to foster continuous learning and professional growth. Specifically, you will:
- Benefit from extensive learning opportunities to deepen your technical skills and knowledge.
- Learn about MathWorks products and customer workflows through training, mentorship, and collaborative on-the-job learning to build a user-centric perspective.
- Leverage Agentic AI to support and enhance core engineering activities such as writing code, developing product demos, and investigating and resolving technical issues, while applying sound engineering judgment and best practices.
- Develop and demonstrate leadership and initiative through opportunities to coach and mentor peers, and lead process improvement projects.
- Explore different teams to discover your passion to transition into teams aligned with your skillset, interests, and MathWorks business needs.

Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree, or equivalent experience) is required.
Additional Qualifications
- Masters/Ph.D. in Engineering, Computer Science, or another STEM subject with a consistent, well-rounded academic track record
- Effective problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
- Curiosity, learning agility, and a willingness to explore new engineering tools and technologies, including AI-assisted workflows
- Solid foundational programming skills in at least one language (e.g., C++, JavaScript, Python, Golang, and/or MATLAB)
- Experience with MathWorks products, system design, and/or object-oriented programming principles is a plus
