Multiskilled Engineering Operative Apprentice

CRP is looking for a Multiskilled Engineering Operative Apprentice to join its manufacturing team. This is an opportunity to build a foundation in engineering by learning welding, fitting and machining alongside experienced colleagues. You will develop practical skills while working towards the Engineering Operative Level 2 apprenticeship.

About the Role

As a Multiskilled Engineering Operative Apprentice, you will rotate through practical engineering activities and build experience across welding, fitting and machining before progressing towards a welding specialism.

Your duties and development will include:

  • Learning safe workshop practices and following CRP's health and safety procedures
  • Developing basic welding and fabrication skills under supervision
  • Learning fitting and assembly techniques used within a manufacturing environment
  • Developing machining skills and learning how engineering components are produced
  • Reading and working from engineering drawings, specifications and job instructions
  • Learning to use hand tools, workshop equipment and measuring equipment correctly
  • Preparing materials and components for manufacturing and assembly
  • Checking work for accuracy, quality and conformity to requirements
  • Supporting experienced engineers and production colleagues with day-to-day manufacturing tasks
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working area
  • Building the practical skills, knowledge and behaviours required for progression within engineering

The role is designed to give the apprentice a broad understanding of engineering before specialising in welding at Level 3.

Working Conditions

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Essential Qualifications

  • GCSE in:
    • English (grade 4)
    • Maths (grade 4)

About the Company

Corrosion Resistant Products Ltd (CRP) is a specialist UK manufacturer based in Littleborough. CRP designs and manufactures corrosion-resistant PTFE and PFA lined pipework, fittings and engineered equipment for demanding industries. Manufacturing is carried out at its Littleborough facility, giving apprentices the opportunity to learn in an established engineering environment with a range of in-house production processes. CRP states that it supports employee development through internal and external training and actively encourages career growth.

The apprenticeship is designed as the first stage of a longer engineering development pathway at CRP. Following successful completion of the Engineering Operative Level 2 apprenticeship, the planned progression is to specialise in welding through a Level 3 apprenticeship. This provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to develop broad engineering experience first and then build more advanced specialist welding skills.
