Static Multi-Skilled Maintenance Electrician

Location: Edinburgh

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Working Pattern: Mon - Fri (Rotational Shifts) + On-Call Rota

Remuneration and Package

Base Salary: GBP 39,300 per annum

Total Expected Earnings: GBP 43,000 (inclusive of allowances and overtime)

Overtime Rates: Paid for weekend work and out-of-hours coverage

On-Call Allowance: Weekly standby retainer plus guaranteed minimum pay per call-out

Role Purpose and Overview

We are seeking a reliable, multi-skilled Maintenance Electrician to join an established, highly experienced engineering team based in Edinburgh.

In this role, you will be responsible for executing planned preventive maintenance (PPM), resolving reactive faults, and completing minor electrical installations to maintain smooth daily operations.

You will join a tight-knit team with a strong culture of support and knowledge sharing. This is an ideal position for a qualified electrician looking to develop their commercial and industrial maintenance skill set while benefiting from clear long-term career progression routes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Electrical Maintenance and Installs: Execute routine electrical testing, fault finding, small power installations, and general repairs in accordance with current wiring regulations.
  • Emergency Lighting: Carry out routine emergency lighting checks and scheduled functional testing.
  • Fabric and Building Services: Perform basic mechanical, HVAC, and building fabric checks within your skill set to support overall operations.
  • Reactive and PPM Tasks: Balance planned maintenance schedules with rapid response to urgent repairs to ensure minimal operational disruption.
  • Compliance and Safety: Maintain accurate maintenance logs and strictly adhere to health, safety, and security protocols.

Working Pattern and Shift Structure

Shift Structure: Mon - Fri shift rotation (alternating early and late shifts, featuring an early finish on Fridays).

Weekend Testing: 1 weekend per month for scheduled maintenance, paid at enhanced overtime rates.

On-Call Rota: 1 in 6 standby rotation, supported by a weekly allowance plus guaranteed call-out pay.

Essential Requirements

Experience, Training, and Qualifications

  • SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent NVQ/Apprenticeship) in Electrical Installation / Maintenance.
  • 18th Edition BS7671 Wiring Regulations.
  • 2 to 5 years of commercial or industrial electrical maintenance experience.
  • Strong team player with a practical, multi-skilled approach to general facilities maintenance.

Desirable Criteria

  • Prior experience working in commercial or industrial maintenance environments.
  • Basic working knowledge of HVAC systems or minor mechanical maintenance.

Security Clearance Requirement

Candidates must be eligible to undergo standard UK Security Clearance (SC). This requires a full UK Right to Work and a clear, verifiable employment history.
