Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Multiskills Tutor role based in Brighton, delivering L1 training in electrics, tiling, and painting & decorating. The tutor will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons, practical workshops, and assessments that align with curriculum requirements and relevant industry standards.
  • Prepare lesson materials, demonstrate safe and effective practical techniques, monitor learner progress, and provide constructive feedback and support.
  • Maintain accurate records, collaborate with colleagues to improve course delivery, and ensure health and safety compliance in workshop and classroom environments.
  • Contribute to learner induction, progression planning, and the continuous improvement of teaching resources and methods.

  • Practical competence and experience in electrics (L1), tiling, and painting & decorating, with up-to-date knowledge of methods, tools, and safety practices.
  • Teaching, tutoring, or training experience in vocational education, with the ability to design and deliver structured, learner-centered sessions.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills to motivate and support learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to manage classrooms and workshops safely and effectively, including adherence to health and safety and safeguarding requirements.
  • Relevant vocational qualifications in electrics, tiling, or painting & decorating; a teaching qualification (e.g., PTLLS, AET or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills, with proficiency in basic IT for lesson planning, learner tracking, and reporting.
  • Experience working within education, training, or community-based programs is beneficial, as is familiarity with UK vocational standards and awarding bodies.
