We are seeking a senior Murex Back Office and Collateral Upgrade Specialist to support a Murex upgrade programme, with focus across Back Office processing, collateral workflows, post-trade lifecycle, confirmations, settlements, payments, accounting, reconciliation and upgrade validation.
The consultant will act as a senior functional SME across Murex BO and Collateral, working closely with business users, technology teams, testing teams, project managers and Murex stakeholders to ensure that upgrade impacts are understood, tested and delivered successfully. The role requires strong hands-on Murex experience, excellent functional knowledge, and the ability to support delivery across requirements, impact analysis, configuration, testing, defect resolution and go-live readiness.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience working with Murex, with strong focus on Back Office and Collateral modules.
- Strong hands-on experience across Murex Back Office, including confirmations, settlements, payments, accounting events, post-trade workflows, trade lifecycle events and operational processing.
- Strong experience with Murex Collateral, including collateral workflows, margining, collateral agreements, eligibility, calls, exposure calculation, collateral movements and reconciliation.
- Previous experience supporting Murex upgrades, version migrations or major platform transformation programmes.
- Ability to assess upgrade impact across BO and Collateral processes, including configuration, workflows, reports, interfaces and downstream systems.
- Strong understanding of front-to-back trade lifecycle and post-trade processing across capital markets products.
- Experience working with testing teams across SIT, UAT, regression testing, parallel runs and production dress rehearsals.
- Ability to review defects, perform functional analysis, identify root cause and coordinate resolution with technical teams and Murex vendor teams.
- Experience creating or reviewing functional specifications, test scenarios, test cases, migration validation packs and go-live readiness artefacts.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work with business users, operations, risk, finance, technology, QA and project teams.
- Experience working in hybrid delivery models and willingness to travel regularly to South Africa.
- Strong communication skills and ability to operate as a senior SME within a high-pressure upgrade environment.

- Act as the senior functional SME for Murex Back Office and Collateral during the upgrade programme.
- Perform impact analysis across BO and Collateral workflows, configuration, trade lifecycle events, settlement flows, payment flows, accounting rules, collateral workflows and downstream dependencies.
- Review existing Murex setup and identify upgrade-related changes, gaps, risks and required remediation.
- Support functional design and configuration validation across Back Office and Collateral modules.
- Work with business and technology teams to confirm requirements, expected system behaviour and target-state processes.
- Support testing strategy across SIT, UAT, regression testing, parallel runs, production dress rehearsals and go-live readiness.
- Define and review test scenarios covering confirmations, settlements, payments, accounting, lifecycle events, collateral calls, margining, exposure calculations and reconciliation.
- Investigate defects and functional issues raised during testing, identifying root cause and coordinating fixes with technical teams.
- Work with Murex vendor teams where required to clarify system behaviour, raise issues and validate proposed solutions.
- Support data migration and reconciliation validation where Back Office or Collateral data is impacted.
- Review reporting, interface and downstream impacts linked to BO and Collateral processing.
- Support operational readiness, including user validation, process documentation, runbooks and handover material.
- Coordinate with project managers, business users and delivery teams to track risks, dependencies, defects and delivery milestones.
- Provide guidance to junior team members and business users on Murex BO / Collateral functionality.
- Support cutover planning, go-live preparation and post-go-live stabilisation.
- Travel to South Africa on a regular basis to support workshops, testing, stakeholder engagement and key delivery milestones.
