About
Westpac Australia’s oldest bank and one of the four major banking organisations in the country. Through Westpac Institutional Bank, we support corporate, institutional and government clients globally with specialist expertise across banking, markets and capital markets services.
Our London office is a key international hub, working closely with teams across Australia, Asia, Europe and the Americas. The business plays an important role in supporting cross border funding, investor access, and international capital markets activity for clients in the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
How Will I Help
The Murex Production Support Analyst plays a key role in maintaining the stability, performance and reliability of Westpac's Murex platform, supporting the international Financial Markets and Treasury business. The role combines hands on technical troubleshooting with an understanding of front to back markets processes to resolve production issues, support critical business functions and improve platform resilience.
Working closely with Front Office, Middle Office, Operations, Finance, Risk and Technology teams, the role is primarily focused on production support, taking ownership of incidents, service requests and application issues from triage through to resolution. The role also contributes to testing, controlled change activities and continuous improvement initiatives as part of a global technology team.
Key Accountabilities
- Investigate and resolve production incidents, service requests and application queries within agreed service levels, keeping stakeholders informed from triage through to resolution.
- Support Murex MX.3 across front-to-back workflows, including trade capture, pricing and valuation, risk, confirmations, payments, settlement, collateral and end-of-day processing.
- Diagnose issues across the Murex application, services, workflows, batches, interfaces, databases and Linux infrastructure.
- Monitor and troubleshoot scheduled processing and DataMart jobs, including failures involving system capacity, files, interfaces or data transfers.
- Partner with Front Office, Middle Office, Operations, Finance, Risk and Technology teams to assess impact, coordinate recovery and prevent recurrence.
- Support controlled system changes through analysis, functional testing, implementation and post-release validation.
- Maintain accurate incident records, support procedures and operational documentation in the team’s service-management and knowledge tools.
- Identify opportunities to improve monitoring, automation, support processes and platform resilience.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
