Keswick Museum is an independent museum and art gallery serving the local community and visitors to Keswick and the wider Lake District. We care for and interpret collections that tell the story of Keswick, the surrounding area and its people, and provide exhibitions, events and activities for a wide range of audiences.

We are now looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Museum Operations Manager to lead the effective day-to-day running of the museum. Depending on the outcome of a current grant application there may be an opportunity to extend the contract for the right candidate.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Museum Operations Manager will ensure that Keswick Museum operates effectively, safely and efficiently, providing a welcoming and engaging experience for visitors and a positive working environment for staff and volunteers. This is a practical management role in a small organisation. You will need to be comfortable taking responsibility, solving problems, managing competing priorities and working collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers and trustees.

This is an exciting time for the museum as we are about to embark on a transformation of the museum and are currently seeking funding to support this process with an additional development role. Working alongside the ops manager this additional role will lead the transformation process identified in the grant application and ensure we have sufficient management capacity needed to develop the organisation for the future.
