Join Sing Up and help shape the future of music education.
Sing Up is an award-winning music education company that believes in the power of singing to transform lives. We provide teachers, music practitioners and vocal leaders in the UK and around the world with high-quality singing and music education resources via a digital platform.
We're looking for a Music Editor with a proven track record of commissioning, developing and delivering music content for publication. This is not primarily an audio production, teaching or performance role. We're seeking someone with experience making editorial decisions, managing contributors, and taking music content from concept through to publication.
This role is central to the production of songs; including new commissions and 3rd party copyright arrangements for our world-class Song Bank, with a particular focus on commissioning high-quality audio tracks, and preparing content for digital publication.
About the role
As Music Editor, you'll contribute to the selection, commissioning, editing, and delivery of music and educational content ensuring materials are engaging, accurate and of the highest quality.
You'll:
- Commission original songs and arrangements, audio tracks and other educational content for publication.
- Work with external contributors such as songwriters, vocalists and music producers coordinating recording projects and other resource development projects.
- Occasionally attend recording sessions ensuring the creation of accurate and high quality audio.
- Assess commissioned work against editorial briefs, publication standards and audience needs, providing clear developmental feedback where required.
- Make editorial recommendations regarding repertoire selection, content suitability and publication readiness.
- Ensure commissioned content aligns with Sing Up's educational, musical and editorial standards.
- Prepare and upload content for publication via Sing Up's digital platform.
- Support the maintenance of production schedules, records, budgets and editorial processes.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across publishing, digital learning and marketing.
You'll work with internal teams and a wide network of song writers, arrangers, writers, musicians, teachers, engineers and other contributors to ensure Sing Up's content continues to inspire and support music-making in schools and beyond.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You bring:
- A degree, or equivalent, in music or a music-related discipline.
- Demonstrable professional experience in music editing, music publishing, educational publishing or content development, including responsibility for commissioning, reviewing and delivering content to publication standard.
- Experience commissioning and managing work created by others, rather than solely creating content yourself.
- Evidence of making editorial decisions and providing developmental feedback to creators, contributors or content producers.
- A passion for music with eclectic and genre-fluid listening habits/ knowledge.
- Experience in studio recording and audio production.
- Excellent musicianship, including strong aural skills.

You’re proactive, solutions focused and calm under pressure, able to bring structure and momentum to collaborative work.
An understanding of rights and licensing in music publishing is desirable, but just as important is your ability to learn quickly and apply sound judgement.
Please note: This is primarily an editorial and commissioning role. Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience of commissioning, developing, reviewing, and delivering content created by others. Professional experience solely in performance, teaching, composition, music production, or audio engineering, without editorial or publishing responsibility, is unlikely to provide sufficient preparation for this role.
