Music for All Trustee Recruitment
Music for All is recruiting new trustees to join our Board in autumn 2026. As a trustee, you will provide strategic leadership, governance and direction, helping to shape the charity's future and maximise our impact over the next decade.
What difference will you make?
Established 30 years ago, Music for All has a track record in providing support. Over the past five years alone we have awarded over £450,000 in cash grants, donated instruments and equipment to hundreds of individuals, community groups and educational establishments, as well as providing free ‘Learn to Play’ experiences for thousands of people.
As Music for All celebrates its 30th birthday, we are entering an exciting and pivotal new chapter. Five years ago, we became an independent charity and, since then, have grown our impact fourfold. Now, with an ambitious 2030 Vision, we are determined to accelerate our impact in response to growing need and ensure that everyone has the Opportunity To Experience The Life-changing Benefits Of Music Making.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for trustees with an interest in, and a passion for creativity and the arts, and for the core purpose of Music for All. We are looking for people who can bring a mix of skills, networks and experiences, together with the enthusiasm and capacity to work with other trustees and the office team. In addition, expert knowledge is sought to support the strategic direction of the charity in its next phase of growth.

We are seeking new trustees with skills and experience in
- Brand and Marketing - Provide strategic oversight of the charity's brand, marketing and communications to strengthen awareness, engagement and reputation. Advise on brand positioning, audience development and marketing strategy, helping Music for All communicate its impact effectively, grow partnerships and reach more people
- Corporate and Fundraising - Helping the board to identify corporate sponsorship and fundraising opportunities and sharpen the focus of Music for All’s developmental growth, as well as supporting the realisation of key fundraising opportunities.
- Music Education - Provide insight into music education, lifelong learning and inclusive participation to help shape the charity's programmes and impact. Advise on educational trends, barriers to access and best practice, ensuring Music for All's initiatives enable more people of all ages and backgrounds to experience the educational, social and wellbeing benefits of making music.
First-time trustees with relevant skills and commitment will be welcomed and full trustee training can be given as required. Music for All strives to maintain diversity in its award recipients, staff, volunteers and on the Board.

To help us achieve this vision, we are recruiting new trustees to join our Board in autumn 2026. As a trustee, you will provide strategic leadership, governance and direction, helping to shape the charity's future and maximise our impact over the next decade. This includes
- Taking overall legal responsibility with other trustees for the charity’s work
- Setting the strategic direction of the organisation, overseeing the management of activity, determining policy and approving resource allocations
- Acting in the best interests of the charity, ensuring its work is carried out effectively and monitoring its performance against agreed objectives
- Supporting staff, trustees and other volunteers in their work being active in decision-making about all Music for All matters keeping up to date on legislation and charity activity relevant to your role
