About the Role
An independent songwriter is seeking a skilled music producer to craft instrumental arrangements for three narrative-driven songs, each with distinct emotional and stylistic requirements. The project involves collaborating closely to translate story concepts into compelling musical backdrops, with creative freedom encouraged to enhance the storytelling. A professional Nashville baritone vocalist is secured for the vocal tracks, and the focus is on developing full chord progressions and instrumental layers that bring each song’s narrative to life. The producer will be expected to interpret provided references and song outlines, contributing their own artistic vision while respecting the core story elements.
Deliverables
- Develop and produce instrumental arrangements for three songs, each with unique genre and mood requirements:
- "Exit Unknown": Cinematic rock thriller with high-tension tempo, dramatic pauses, and a sense of urgency reflecting a panicked highway escape.
- "The Name We Own": Mid-tempo heartland anthem with raw acoustic and electric guitar, emphasizing authenticity and avoiding polished pop production.
- "The Curse of the Appalachian Trails": Folk-rock progression building from sparse acoustic guitar and bass to an intense, climactic finish, capturing psychological tension.
- Translate story outlines into chord progressions and full instrumental backing tracks.
- Collaborate with the songwriter to refine arrangements, incorporating feedback and creative suggestions.
- Prepare stems and final mixes suitable for professional vocal recording.
- Reference provided audio examples to guide arrangement and mood, while contributing original ideas.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
