Noise Academy is looking for talented, passionate Music Tutors to join our growing team in South London. This isn’t a traditional teaching role. We use music production, DJing and modern music technology to connect with young people, including those who may struggle to engage in conventional education. Our tutors are more than educators, they’re mentors, positive role models and people who can inspire young people through a shared passion for music. Who are Noise Academy?
Noise Academy is a music education organisation dedicated to supporting children and young adults through modern music technology and contemporary music education. We partner with more than 200 schools across the UK, delivering over 400,000 hours of music education every year. Our tutors work across mainstream schools, SEND and SEMH provisions, alternative education settings, youth groups and community organisations. We specialise in reaching young people who don't always thrive within traditional education. By using the music, technology and culture they already connect with, we create engaging programmes that help learners develop practical music skills alongside confidence, creativity, communication and self-belief. Beyond schools, our UK music hubs support people outside conventional education, including young adults facing complex social challenges. And we're growing, both across the UK and internationally.
The Role
As a Noise Academy Music Tutor, you'll deliver engaging music production, DJing and other contemporary music sessions to children and young adults across South London. You'll work from Noise Academy's bespoke curriculum and lesson plans, while bringing your own personality, musical experience and creativity to every session. Depending on the setting, you'll work one-to-one or with small groups, adapting your approach to the individual learners in front of you.

Your role will include:
- Delivering engaging music production, DJing, artist development and music technology sessions using the Noise Academy’s bespoke curriculum
- Teaching software such as Ableton Live and Logic Pro
- Providing one-to-one and small-group tuition
- Supporting learners with a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and learning needs
- Building positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Encouraging creativity, confidence and personal development through music
- Monitoring and assessing learner progress using Noise Academy’s bespoke software
- Working alongside teachers, school staff and community partners
- Maintaining a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment
- Representing Noise Academy professionally across our partner schools and organisations
You will have the opportunity to work in a variety of settings including schools, community centres, specialist provisions and youth projects, so some travel within Greater London will be required.
Who We're Looking For
Personality matters to us just as much as experience. You don't need a teaching qualification or a music degree although this would be advantageous for some projects we undertake. We're looking for people who are great at what they do, passionate about music and able to build genuine connections with young people from a range of backgrounds and abilities. You'll need strong practical music production skills and the confidence to teach using platforms such as Ableton Live and/or Logic Pro. Previous experience delivering music sessions one-to-one or to small groups is important. Experience working with children and young people, particularly SEND or SEMH learners would be a big advantage, but it isn't essential. Training can be provided to the right person. DJing experience would also be advantageous, but again, it isn't essential but a big bonus as we do offer a DJ programme to schools. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is:

Practical Requirements
You'll need to be eligible to work in the UK and willing to complete all required safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check where applicable. As sessions can take place across different locations, you'll also need to be comfortable travelling between sites in Greater London. Having your own vehicle would be advantageous due to the nature of the role. This is a contract/self-employed tutor position. Successful tutors deliver Noise Academy's bespoke music curriculum on behalf of Noise Academy and represent the organisation within our partner schools, provisions and community settings.
