Sutton Music Trust seeks experienced, engaging music tutors to teach at our out-of-hours Music Academy in Violin, Woodwind (Saxophone and Clarinet), and Vocals.

Woodwind (Clarinet & Saxophone)
- Wednesdays, 17:25-19:30
- Cheam Park Farm Primary Academy, SM3 9UE
Violin
- Saturdays, 9:50-13:20 (incl 10min unpaid break)
- Cantium House, Wallington, SM6 0DZ
Vocal (Maternity Cover)
- Thursdays, 17:00-19:00
- Cantium House, Wallington, SM6 0DZ
- Saturdays, 9:00-13:10
- Cheam Park Farm Primary Academy, SM3 9UE
Hourly Rate
- Self-Employed £36.59 p/h
Location
- As Above, London Borough of Sutton
This role is offered on a self-employed basis. Successful applicants will be responsible for managing their own tax and National Insurance obligations.

Role Responsibilities
Sutton Music Trust’s tutors deliver inclusive, inspirational, and high-quality music lessons/rehearsals to children and young people. Music lessons are offered in school, or out-of-school settings within the London Borough of Sutton. Tuition work may include teaching one-to-one, small groups, whole classes of pupils, working with musical groups, and assisting with performances or one-off projects (including trips and residentials).

We are looking for music educators who can contribute to SMT’s vision and:
- Inspire young musicians of all ages to develop a lifelong love of music-making.
- Plan and deliver inclusive, exciting, and engaging music lessons/rehearsals/sessions.
- Create teaching environments where learners can progress, meet high expectations, and experience different musical styles and cultures.
- Are effective communicators.
- Can assess students’ progress and plan accordingly.
- Use their instrument/voice/skills to demonstrate effectively and with confidence.
- Are committed to the safeguarding of children and young people.
- Understand that it is everybody’s responsibility to tackle discrimination against protected characteristics (as per the Equality Act) and promote tolerance and understanding.
