About Us
We celebrated our tenth anniversary, growing from a tech start-up to a community of 180 people across Salford, Manchester, with additional teams in Cheltenham, London, Portsmouth, and Lincoln.

About the Role
As a User Researcher, you’ll identify customer and user needs, translating them into actionable value for our projects. Whether on established or new initiatives, your focus is designing services that fulfill these requirements.
What We’re Looking For
We seek a confident, motivated individual passionate about User-Centred Design (UCD). Key readiness includes:
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years in user research, engaging diverse audiences
- Qualitative & quantitative expertise; ability to choose appropriate methodologies
- Skills for workshops, interviews, and usability testing
- Comfortable eliciting insights from users and synthesising findings
- Clear communication to stakeholders and cross-functional teams
- Understanding of accessibility and research ethics
- Experience bridging product and development teams
Nice-to-Have
- Exposure to Government Digital Service (GDS) agile/research practices
- Collaboration with Business Analysts/Change Managers
- UX best practices and tooling (e.g., Figma) to visualise research insights
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Plan research proposals to support business-wide projects, large or small
- Conduct impactful research, from early-stage discovery to long-term support
- Define key user groups and personas to inform the business
- Execute in-person and online research, balancing practical considerations
- Present findings to customers, product, and tech teams with clarity
- Partner with Business Analysts, UX Designers, and developers to outline features
- Ensure ethical safeguarding and accessibility throughout research
- Champion user research’s role within our ACDC (likely Product/Ops teams)

Pay & Benefits
- Competitive industry salary based on location/loans and experience (evaluated during interviews)
