National Account Controller – Tesco

c£85k plus strong package

Our Client

Our client is a highly successful, growth-oriented FMCG business with a portfolio of category-leading brands and a strong reputation for innovation, execution, and customer partnership.

Operating across both branded and selected own-label categories, the business continues to invest heavily in its commercial capability and customer development agenda.

As part of its continued growth ambitions, they are seeking a National Account Controller to lead one of their most strategically important customer groups encompassing Tesco, Booker, and One Stop.

The role

As National Account Controller, you will hold accountability for the performance, growth, and profitability of the Tesco Group business, leading a team of six tasked with driving long-term strategic partnerships across the customer base.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead & Inspire - Manage and develop a high-performing team of SNAM, NAM & NAEs, creating a culture of accountability, performance, and development.
  • Drive Growth - Own delivery of sales, profit, and market share objectives across a significant branded portfolio alongside selected own-label contracts.
  • Build Strategic Partnerships - Develop and strengthen senior-level relationships across Tesco, Booker, and One Stop, creating collaborative growth plans and long-term customer strategies.
  • Lead Commercial Delivery - Take ownership of Joint Business Planning, customer profitability, pricing negotiations, promotional investment, and annual trading agreements.
  • Shape Future Strategy - Work closely with Category, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations to identify growth opportunities, unlock innovation, and deliver sustainable commercial success.

Ideal candidate:

  • Seeking a commercially driven leader with the capability and credibility to influence!
  • Will be currently operating as a Customer Lead (NAC/ Account Lead with reports) for major Grocery customers, ideally with strong exposure to Tesco.
  • Proven commercial leadership experience with responsibility for customer P&L performance.
  • A track record of delivering profitable growth, market share gains, and strategic customer development.
  • Strong negotiation, commercial planning, and Joint Business Planning capabilities.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing commercial teams.
  • The ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and deliver results through collaborative working.

Additional information:

  • Home-based contract with c2 days in London office or Tesco HO
  • Salary c£85k + car allowance, 15% bonus, healthcare, strong pension + benefits
