National Account Controller – On Trade

UK | Travel to London required
up to £90,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus

We are working with a leading Spirits business looking for a National Account Controller – On Trade to lead a team and take ownership of some of the UK’s most important National On-Trade customers.

This is a senior commercial leadership role requiring someone who brings genuine depth of National On-Trade account experience alongside strong, proven people management. You’ll be expected to know the customer landscape, lead from the front commercially and create a high-performance culture within the team.

The Role

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of National Account Managers, setting clear expectations and driving accountability against commercial targets
  • Confidently manage performance and underperformance, having clear and constructive conversations when required
  • Own senior relationships across key National On-Trade customers, including groups such as M&B and Stonegate
  • Bring strong knowledge of the National On-Trade landscape, customer structures, commercial models and key decision makers
  • Lead negotiations, JBPs and strategic customer conversations, ensuring plans deliver profitable and sustainable growth
  • Ensure customer and trade investment is deployed effectively, with clear measurement of ROI
  • Identify opportunities to increase distribution, visibility, rate of sale and overall brand performance across the channel

About You

  • Strong National On-Trade account experience within Drinks, ideally Spirits, Beer, Wine or Premium Beverages
  • Direct experience managing major National On-Trade groups and a strong understanding of how these customers operate commercially
  • Proven people management experience, including coaching, developing and performance-managing National Account Managers
  • A confident leader who can challenge constructively and raise the commercial capability of the function
  • Able to demonstrate tangible commercial wins across major accounts through revenue growth, distribution, negotiation, activation or improved customer investment
  • Strong knowledge of JBPs, P&L management, forecasting, commercial investment and ROI
  • Commercially sharp and analytical, but equally comfortable being hands-on with customers and the team

This role would suit an established National Account Controller, Senior National Account Controller or experienced National Account Manager with significant people leadership responsibility who can demonstrate both sides of the brief: strong National On-Trade customer expertise and the ability to lead, develop and manage performance within a team.
