National Account Manager | Manchester | £50k + Car + Up to 50% Bonus
If you’re a National Account Manager in FMCG, how much freedom do you actually have to change the way your accounts are run?
This opportunity is different. We’re recruiting for a multi-brand consumer goods business with recognised household brands, major UK retail customers and an established international footprint.
They’re investing in the next evolution of their commercial team and want people who can bring fresh thinking with them.
The brief isn’t simply to inherit a number and hit the forecast. You’ll have the opportunity to rethink how accounts are grown. Build stronger customer plans. Use data and insight more effectively. Develop better propositions. Identify new distribution and listing opportunities. And build longer-term partnerships with major retailers.
The business is moving towards a more strategic, FMCG-style approach to selling, and you’ll be joining at a point where you can genuinely influence what that looks like.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What you'll be doing
- Own and develop major national retail accounts
- Build account strategies and joint business plans
- Identify opportunities for new listings, distribution and sustainable growth
- Turn customer, consumer and market insight into compelling propositions
- Build strong relationships with retail buyers and other key stakeholders
- Work closely with Marketing, Buying and Supply Chain to deliver customer plans

Who we're looking for
You’ll probably be an established National Account Manager or an ambitious NAE ready for the next step, coming from FMCG or another branded consumer goods environment.
More importantly, you'll be someone who wants to make things happen. Commercially curious. Analytical. Comfortable challenging the status quo. Resilient when things move quickly. And motivated by growth rather than simply managing what already exists.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
Experience with grocers, discounters or other major national retailers would be particularly relevant.
Why consider it?
Because you won't be joining a finished commercial model. You’ll be joining while it's being built. That means more visibility, more influence and the opportunity to bring best practice from your current business into an environment where it will be noticed. There’s also genuine scope to progress as the business grows and the commercial organisation develops.
Package
- Up to £50,000 base salary
- £5,000 car allowance
- Bonus up to 50%
- Additional benefits
The business has a highly collaborative, office-led culture, so this will particularly suit someone who enjoys working closely with colleagues rather than operating predominantly remotely.
If you’re doing well where you are but feel ready for more ownership, more influence and a bigger opportunity to make your mark, I’d be interested in speaking with you.
