National Account Manager – Discounters
Location: UK | Hybrid
Package: Competitive basic salary, bonus and benefits package
The Company
Our client is a leading consumer products business with a strong presence across the UK market, supplying a portfolio of branded and private-label products to a range of major customers.
As the business continues to grow, they are looking to appoint a commercially driven National Account Manager to manage and develop key relationships across the discounter channel, with responsibility for delivering profitable sales growth across a portfolio of major customers.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced National Account Manager who understands the fast-paced nature of the discounter channel and is confident managing commercial relationships, negotiations, and Joint Business Plans.
The Role
Reporting into the Commercial team, the National Account Manager will be responsible for managing and developing key discounter accounts, delivering commercial growth, and building strong, long-term customer relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and developing key relationships across the discounter channel
- Delivering agreed sales and profit targets across the customer portfolio
- Developing and delivering Joint Business Plans with key customers
- Identifying opportunities to grow distribution, listings, and sales
- Managing customer negotiations across pricing, promotions, and commercial terms
- Building strong relationships with key customer contacts and acting as the primary point of contact
- Working closely with internal teams to ensure customer requirements are delivered effectively
- Supporting new product launches and identifying opportunities to grow the product portfolio
- Monitoring customer performance, market activity, and competitor developments
- Managing customer forecasts and working closely with relevant internal teams to support effective supply
- Analysing customer and market data to identify opportunities and inform commercial decisions
- Preparing and presenting customer reviews, account plans, and commercial proposals

The Candidate
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience within a National Account Management role
- Experience managing customers within the discounter channel
- Experience within FMCG or consumer products
- A strong commercial understanding and track record of delivering sales growth
- Experience managing Joint Business Plans and customer negotiations
- Strong relationship-building and influencing skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong analytical and numerical ability
- A proactive, commercially driven, and results-focused approach
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment
