Job Overview

PAX is looking for an experienced National Account Manager to strengthen our commercial capability across the UK Grocery and Modern Trade channels.

The role will focus on building strong direct relationships with major UK retailers and driving account strategy, commercial negotiations, category development, new product launches, and sustainable long-term growth.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing commercial role. We value genuine retailer experience and commercial capability more than corporate title.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage direct relationships with major UK Grocery and Modern Trade customers.
  • Work closely with existing distribution partners to improve retail execution and maximise customer and business performance.
  • Build strong relationships with buyers, category teams, and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute annual account plans, JBPs, range reviews, promotional plans, and new product launches.
  • Support the commercial agenda across pricing, retailer margins, listing fees, promotions, rebates, and trade investment.
  • Prepare and present compelling commercial proposals and recommendations to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Represent the brand in key retailer meetings and commercial negotiations.
  • Analyse EPOS, sales, category, pricing, and competitor data and translate insights into commercial actions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, Legal, and other teams to ensure effective delivery of customer plans.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of UK grocery trends, shopper behaviour, category dynamics, and the competitive landscape; identify and develop new strategic retail opportunities across the UK.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
