National Account Manager - Grocery (Own Label Ambient)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced National Account Manager to drive growth across a portfolio of own-label ambient grocery products. This role will focus on developing and managing key retail relationships, delivering commercial growth, winning new listings, and maximising the performance of existing accounts within the UK grocery sector.
Working closely with internal stakeholders across commercial, NPD, operations, and finance, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering ambitious growth plans while ensuring strong customer partnerships and profitable account performance.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management
- Develop and implement account plans to deliver revenue, margin, and distribution objectives.
- Manage relationships with key UK grocery retailers, acting as the primary commercial contact.
- Drive growth through range extensions, promotional activity, new product development, and customer expansion opportunities.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities, retailer listings, and own-label briefs.
- Support the delivery of annual sales forecasts and account budgets.

Customer Relationship Management
- Build strong relationships with buying, category, technical, and supply chain teams.
- Lead customer meetings, business reviews, and joint planning initiatives.
- Understand retailer strategies and align business objectives accordingly.
- Manage customer negotiations covering pricing, promotions, and commercial agreements.
New Product Development & Category Growth
- Collaborate with NPD and category teams to develop compelling customer proposals.
- Support the delivery of innovation pipelines and product launches.
- Utilise market insights and category trends to identify opportunities for growth.
- Present commercially robust recommendations that enhance category performance.

Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a National Account Manager, National Account Executive, Key Account Manager, Account Manager, or similar commercial role within FMCG.
- Experience managing UK grocery retail accounts.
- Understanding of own-label products and retailer requirements.
- Track record of delivering commercial growth, securing new listings, and developing customer relationships.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and influencing skills.
- Organised and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative team player with a positive and solutions-focused approach.
