About The Job

Introduction & Job Detail

The National Account Manager (NAM) is responsible for developing and delivering the commercial strategy across the Booker Wholesale account. The role will drive sustainable net sales, profit, and market share growth through effective account management, strong customer relationships, and flawless execution of joint business plans. Working closely with Booker buying, category and retail teams, the NAM will identify growth opportunities, secure distribution, optimise promotional performance, and ensure the business achieves its commercial objectives across both delivered wholesale and symbol group channels.

Role Overview

Customer Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key Booker stakeholders across buying, category, supply chain and retail functions.
  • Lead all customer-facing negotiations, including annual trading agreements, pricing discussions, promotional plans, investment commitments and range reviews.
  • Build and execute customer joint business plans aligned to company growth objectives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Booker, ensuring excellent customer service and issue resolution.

Commercial Delivery

  • Deliver agreed sales, profit, market share and distribution targets.
  • Identify and unlock growth opportunities across wholesale and retail partner channels.
  • Manage customer P&L and trade investment budgets to maximise return on investment.
  • Monitor account performance and implement corrective actions where required

Category & Channel Development

  • Utilise market, shopper and customer data to create compelling category growth recommendations.
  • Develop customer-specific ranging, merchandising and promotional strategies.
  • Champion new product launches and secure optimal listings, visibility and activation.
  • Work collaboratively with category and marketing teams to drive category growth initiatives.

Forecasting & Supply Management

  • Deliver accurate volume forecasts and ensure effective communication with demand planning and supply chain teams.
  • Monitor stock availability and proactively manage risks to sales performance.
  • Support successful implementation of promotional events and new product launches.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Marketing, Category, Supply Chain, Finance and Revenue Growth Management teams.
  • Ensure internal alignment behind customer plans and commercial priorities.
  • Provide regular account updates, performance reviews and market insights to senior leadership.

About you

Leadership Expectations

  • Proven experience managing national retail or wholesale accounts within FMCG
  • Proven experience managing national retail or wholesale accounts within FMCG.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing customer P&Ls.
  • Track record of delivering sales growth and successful negotiations.
  • Experience working with wholesale, convenience or grocery customers.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly organised with strong planning and project management capability.

Salary Bracket

£50,000 - £60,000 per annum, in addition to bonus & benefits.
