National Account Manager - Grocery - Own Label Food
Midlands
Up to £70,000 basic + benefits
We’re working with a growing own-label food business in the Midlands that is looking to appoint a Commercial Manager to manage and develop a portfolio of grocery customers.
This is a hands-on commercial role for someone who understands the grocery market, enjoys working closely with customers, and knows how to turn relationships into profitable growth.
Responsibilities
- Managing day-to-day relationships with key grocery customers.
- Leading customer meetings, reviews, and commercial negotiations.
- Managing sales, margin, pricing, and promotional activity.
- Identifying opportunities to grow existing accounts and win new business.
- Working with NPD, technical, operations, and supply chain teams to deliver customer requirements.
- Supporting new product development and range reviews.
- Preparing customer presentations, forecasts, and commercial plans.
- Keeping up to date with customer, category, and market activity.
- Making sure customer expectations are met while protecting the commercial interests of the business.

Requirements
We’re looking for someone with solid commercial experience in grocery, food manufacturing, or FMCG, ideally with experience of working with UK grocery accounts.
You’ll need to be commercially minded, confident dealing with buyers, and comfortable taking ownership of your accounts.
Experience of own-label food would be particularly relevant, along with:
- A good understanding of the UK grocery market.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Good commercial and financial awareness.
- The ability to spot opportunities and turn them into sales.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A practical, hands-on approach.
- The confidence to work across different teams and get things done.
