Thistle Seafoods is one of the largest family-owned manufacturers of quality seafood products in Europe. We supply outstanding products at every price point to leading retail and food service customers within the UK, Europe, USA, Canada, and Australia. Our Head Office is based in Peterhead in the North-East of Scotland, and our second site is based in Uddingston in the outskirts of Glasgow.

The Role

The National Account Manager has full profit and loss responsibility for the customer account they are assigned. They will work as part of a team who are focused on developing strong relationships and increasing sales with current customers and securing contracts with new customers. To achieve this, the post holder must have a sound knowledge of the Company’s products and play a key role in the development, launch, and sale of new products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet and exceed the sales and profit targets identified.
  • Managing sales to customers as designated by the Commercial Director and the CEO.
  • Proactively contacting customers to maintain a high level of service, whilst identifying and exploiting opportunities for profitable growth.
  • Maintaining current sales contacts.
  • Generating sales to existing customers.
  • Securing new customers.
  • Keeping detailed and accurate records.
  • Developing and implementing key sales, promotional strategies, and joint business plans with customers.
  • Building strong relationships with retail buying teams.
  • Negotiating prices.
  • Delivering clear and structured new product development.
  • Developing new business opportunities.
  • Undertake all line management duties with regards to account managers/trainee account managers.
  • Contributing to the overall commercial strategy and growth of the business.
  • Supporting and actively promoting brand integrity and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by ensuring there is engagement and communication between teams, customers, and suppliers that continually drives improvement.
  • Undertaking tasks as directed by the Directors and/or Senior Managers.

Skills/Personal Attributes

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.

Experience

  • Ideally three years previous sales or commercial experience.
  • Previous National Account Management experience.
  • Previous experience of working within the food industry.

Education/Qualifications

  • Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent.

Hours of Work

Hours of work will be Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 5.00pm.
