National Account Manager – Wholesale & Convenience
Remote
Up to £62,000 + car allowance + bonus + benefits
I’m working with a leading food business to recruit a National Account Manager across their Wholesale & Convenience channel.
This role will manage a customer base including Booker, Bestway, Unitas and Spar, with a P&L of roughly £7–8m. Around 80% of the number sits across the top three accounts, so there’s a clear focus on getting close to the big customers, building better plans, and unlocking the growth that’s currently sitting in the channel.
It’s a mixed portfolio across branded products and a smaller amount of own label, covering multiple food categories including ambient, frozen, chilled, grocery, jams and spreads. So it’s not a narrow account role, it needs someone who can handle a busy, complex customer base and keep multiple plates spinning.
The channel has plenty of opportunity, but it needs structure, focus and ownership. The business is looking for someone who can step in, build relationships quickly, get close to the detail, and drive the accounts forward.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and grow a portfolio of Wholesale & Convenience customers including Booker, Bestway, Unitas and Spar
- Own a £7–8m P&L, delivering against NSV, profit, distribution and NPD targets
- Build customer plans that bring structure, focus and growth back into the channel
- Lead promotional planning, forecasting, pricing activity and commercial negotiations
- Manage performance across a broad portfolio of branded and own-label products
- Work closely with Category, Marketing, NPD, Supply Chain, Finance and Demand Planning
- Build strong relationships with buyers and customer contacts, with regular customer visits
- Identify risks, opportunities and gaps across the account base, then turn them into action
- Work alongside an Account Executive supporting smaller accounts in the channel

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
