National Account Manager: Leading Food Manufacturer: A GBP 50:55K + Benefits

My client is a leading food manufacturer with a brilliant reputation and ambitious growth plans.

They are seeking a National Account Manager to join their team. The successful National Account Manager will be responsible for identifying, securing, and onboarding new high-value national and multi-site customers across education, healthcare, and travel retail channels. This is a high-impact, commercially focused role for someone who thrives on opening doors, building long-term partnerships, and turning opportunities into sustainable revenue.

This is the perfect role for a high-performing Business Development Manager or Key Account Manager looking to join an exciting business who can match their ambition and offer genuine career progression opportunities.

Responsibilities Include

  • Manage and develop a portfolio of high-value national accounts across healthcare, education, and travel retail sectors.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with key customer stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Deliver sales, profit, and margin targets across your customer portfolio.
  • Develop and implement robust customer account plans and commercial strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for new business, range development, NPD, and category growth.
  • Lead commercial negotiations, including pricing, promotions, and annual trading agreements.
  • Analyse customer performance, market trends, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure excellent customer service and operational delivery.
  • Manage customer forecasts and support effective demand planning.
  • Lead customer presentations, reviews, and business meetings.
  • Ensure all commercial activity is aligned with the wider business strategy.

  • Proven sales experience within food manufacturing, FMCG, or a related environment.
  • Experience managing significant retail, foodservice, wholesale, or B2B customers.
  • A strong understanding of commercial negotiations, pricing, margin, and P&L.
  • A track record of delivering sales and profit growth.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and influencing abilities.
  • The confidence to work with senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial approach with the ability to identify and convert opportunities.
  • Full UK driving licence with willingness to travel when needed.
