National Account Manager (Retail)

Generics Pharmaceuticals | UK Field-Based

Join a growing generics pharmaceutical business where your relationships, commercial expertise and market knowledge will genuinely shape future success.

We are partnering exclusively with an ambitious pharmaceutical business as they continue an exciting phase of commercial growth. With an expanding portfolio of generic medicines, continued investment and ambitious plans to increase market share across the UK, our client is looking to appoint an experienced National Account Manager (Retail) to strengthen key customer relationships and help drive the next stage of their growth.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business where you’ll have real influence, work alongside an accessible leadership team and play a significant role in shaping the company’s commercial strategy.

The Opportunity

As National Account Manager, you’ll take ownership of developing and strengthening relationships across the UK retail pharmacy sector, working closely with wholesalers, pharmacy groups and key commercial partners to maximise opportunities across an expanding product portfolio.

You’ll inherit an established customer base while identifying new opportunities to accelerate growth, particularly as the business continues to strengthen its presence beyond its traditional markets.

This is a hands-on role within a lean, entrepreneurial organisation. There isn’t an army of people around you, so you’ll need to be comfortable taking ownership, making decisions and getting things done yourself.

For the right person, that creates a significant opportunity to strategically impact the growth of one of the fastest-growing businesses in the generics space, with genuine visibility and influence across the organisation.

Operating within an agile, commercially focused organisation, you’ll have the autonomy to make decisions, contribute ideas and influence the direction of the commercial function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow strategic national accounts across the UK retail pharmacy market.
  • Build long-term partnerships with wholesalers, pharmacy groups and key commercial customers.
  • Identify and secure new commercial opportunities that support the company’s ambitious growth plans.
  • Develop and implement strategic account plans to maximise revenue and market share.
  • Take a hands-on approach to managing accounts, opportunities and commercial activity.
  • Collaborate closely with Commercial, Supply Chain, Regulatory and Quality teams to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Analyse market trends, customer requirements and competitor activity to identify future opportunities.
  • Represent the business professionally during customer meetings, commercial negotiations and industry events.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the company’s commercial strategy as the organisation continues to grow.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About You

We’re looking for an experienced commercial professional who understands the UK generics market and has successfully developed relationships within the retail pharmacy sector.

Industry experience, credibility and contacts are essential — but so is being hands-on.

You’ll ideally have an established network across the UK retail pharmacy and wholesale landscape, with the confidence and track record to open doors, develop relationships and convert opportunities.

However, this isn’t a role for someone who needs a large team around them to deliver. You’ll need to be comfortable standing on your own two feet, taking ownership and driving activity from initial opportunity through to commercial outcome.

You’ll bring the experience to operate strategically, but also the energy and pragmatism to roll your sleeves up and execute.

To be considered, you’ll ideally have:

  • A proven track record of selling generic pharmaceutical products into the UK retail pharmacy market (essential).
  • Strong, established relationships and contacts across the UK generics and retail pharmacy sector.
  • A strong understanding of the commercial dynamics of the UK generics market.
  • Established relationships with leading wholesalers, pharmacy groups and key retail pharmacy customers.
  • Experience working with organisations such as Alliance Healthcare, Phoenix Healthcare Distribution, Day Lewis and other major players within the UK pharmacy landscape.
  • Excellent commercial awareness with the ability to identify and convert strategic business opportunities.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to work independently, take ownership and confidently operate without a large support structure.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial and hands-on mindset.
  • The ambition to make a genuine commercial impact within a rapidly growing business.

Why Join?

Our client has created an environment where talented people are trusted to make decisions, take ownership and influence the direction of the business.

This isn’t a role where you’ll simply become another cog in a large commercial machine. The organisation is lean, entrepreneurial and growing quickly, meaning your contribution will be highly visible and genuinely capable of influencing the trajectory of the business.

There isn’t an army of people around you and that’s part of the appeal. You’ll have the autonomy and responsibility to stand on your own two feet, use your industry relationships and commercial expertise, and directly drive opportunities forward.

For someone with the right industry network and entrepreneurial mindset, this represents a significant opportunity to strategically influence the growth of one of the fastest-growing businesses in the generics space.

Combining the agility of a growing organisation with the professionalism expected within the pharmaceutical industry, they’ve built a culture that is collaborative, commercially driven and refreshingly free from unnecessary bureaucracy.

As the business continues to expand its product portfolio and strengthen its presence across the UK, this role offers the opportunity to become a key part of that journey - working closely with senior leadership and seeing the direct impact of your contribution.
