National Account Manager - Retail / Grocery (m/f/*)"

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a National Account Manager for the Retail and Home Improvement team within the Consumer Business Group you will play a key role in managing and growing strategic customer relationships across the UK.

This is an opportunity for a commercially driven National account manager to make a tangible impact, influence senior stakeholders and contribute to the continued success of some of the world’s most recognised consumer brands. You will take ownership of a portfolio of key national accounts, developing strong commercial partnerships and delivering sustainable and profitable growth across leading 3M brands including Command™, Post-it®, Meguiar’s™, Scotch® and Scotch-Brite™.

Working closely with customers and internal teams, you will use category management, shopper insight, data analytics and trade activation to create compelling growth plans, strengthen account performance and deliver mutual value for both 3M and its customers.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership, shape customer growth plans and make a visible impact within a global business known for innovation and trusted brands.

Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Build, manage and grow strategic relationships with key national customers across the UK including with key stakeholders at all levels of the customer.
  • Be fully responsible for your own P&L across your account base and lead commercial negotiations with confidence.
  • Create and deliver account partnership plans that support growth, collaboration and efficient execution.
  • Lead channel planning and growth activities and align customer plans with 3M’s portfolio strategy and shopper programmes to maximise commercial return.
  • Break into new categories to expand our portfolio strategy and launch NPI with success.
  • Partner with internal teams on forecasting, pricing, customer incentives, trade activation and accounts receivable processes.
  • Use category management, negotiation and business development skills to identify and convert growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with local, regional and central teams to deliver shared business goals.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who meet following minimum requirements:

  • Proven National Account Management experience across Grocery, Discounter and High Street retail customers within a multi- branded FMCG environment.
  • Proven ability to build, manage and grow strategic customer relationships forming JBP’s.
  • A strong track record of delivering profitable account growth.
  • You will be organised, articulate, commercially astute with strong negotiation skills.
  • Confidence in engaging with senior customer stakeholders and influencing decision-making.
  • A customer-focused mindset, with the ability to create solutions that deliver mutual value.
  • A business development approach, with the ability to identify growth opportunities and turn insight into action.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across functions internally and externally.

Additional knowledge / nice-to-have skills / preferred qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Business degree or degree-level qualification.
  • Sales or CIM qualification.
  • Experience working with branded consumer portfolios.

Job specifics:

  • Work location - flexible across the UK.
  • Travel expectations - May include up to 25% domestic/international.
  • Working pattern - full time.
