The Opportunity

Working closely with our Category Manager, Sales Team, Marketing, and wider commercial functions, you will take ownership of the commercial growth plan for Moving & Handling and help turn market opportunity into sustainable, profitable sales.

Key Responsibilities

Drive Commercial Growth

  • Develop and deliver the annual commercial growth plan for the Moving & Handling category.
  • Achieve agreed revenue, gross margin, and growth targets.
  • Identify new customers, market segments, and commercial opportunities.
  • Increase category penetration across existing customer accounts.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities.
  • Develop targeted growth plans for priority customers and market sectors.
  • Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities across the wider customer base.

Develop New Business

  • Proactively identify and develop new customer relationships.
  • Build relationships with key clinical, procurement, operational, and senior decision-makers.
  • Support the development of strategic NHS, private healthcare, and other relevant accounts.
  • Create opportunities rather than relying solely on inbound enquiries.
  • Lead or support major customer presentations, commercial proposals, and negotiations.
  • Support strategic tenders, frameworks, and high-value opportunities.

Enable the Sales Team

  • Act as the commercial specialist for Moving & Handling across the wider sales team.
  • Work alongside Regional Sales Managers and Account Managers to identify and convert opportunities.
  • Support sales colleagues to improve confidence and effectiveness in selling the category.
  • Develop clear commercial propositions, sales messaging, and competitive positioning.
  • Support customer presentations, demonstrations, and strategic account meetings.
  • Share best practice and successful sales approaches across the team.

Build Market Insight

  • Maintain a strong understanding of the Moving & Handling market, competitors, and customer needs.
  • Monitor competitor activity, pricing, market trends, and procurement developments.
  • Analyse sales performance and identify areas for growth and improvement.
  • Provide market intelligence and commercial recommendations to the leadership team.
  • Work with Marketing to develop targeted campaigns and lead-generation activity.

Working Together

The National Account Manager will work closely with the Category Manager, who owns product expertise, supplier relationships, technical support, compliance, and portfolio management. Together, the roles ensure a strong technical proposition and a clear commercial strategy to take that proposition to market.

About You

You will be a commercially minded sales professional with a strong track record of creating opportunities, developing customers, and delivering growth. You will be comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on — developing growth plans while spending time with customers, supporting the sales team, and helping close major opportunities.

Essential Experience

  • Healthcare, medical devices, Moving & Handling, patient handling, or a related sector.
  • Proven track record of delivering sales and revenue growth.
  • Strong business development and opportunity creation experience.
  • Experience growing existing customer accounts as well as winning new business.
  • Experience managing a sales pipeline against clear revenue and margin targets.
  • Strong commercial, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Experience building relationships with senior decision-makers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with field sales and account management teams.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to use sales data to identify opportunities.

Desirable Experience

  • Selling into the Care Sector, NHS, and/or private healthcare market.
  • Understanding of Care Sector, NHS procurement, frameworks, and tender processes.
  • Capital equipment or solution-based sales experience.
  • Experience launching or growing a new product category, territory, or market.

First 12 Months

  • Develop a clear commercial growth strategy and understand current category performance, customers, and market opportunity.
  • Identify priority customer segments and target accounts, and build a strong sustainable pipeline.
  • Increase penetration across existing accounts and support the sales team in converting major opportunities.
  • Strengthen competitive positioning and deliver agreed revenue and gross margin growth.
  • Establish a commercial model that can support future category growth.

Practical Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Remote-based role ideally located in Oxford, Reading, or the Midlands
  • Willingness to travel nationally with some overnight stays away
  • Induction will take place in Poole, Dorset office for a couple of weeks
