National Business Development Manager – Water Management
National / Field Based
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a growing and ambitious UK manufacturer as it invests significantly in the development of its Water Management business.
We are looking for a commercially minded and technically capable individual to help develop national sales across attenuation, flow control and wider surface water management solutions.
This could be an excellent next career move for someone currently working within civils, drainage, SuDS, water management or a related technical construction product sector. You may be working for a manufacturer, civils merchant, distributor or supplier and be looking for the opportunity to move into a broader, project-led national role.
You don't necessarily need to be a Water Management expert already. More important is a good technical aptitude, understanding of the construction/civils sector, commercial drive and the ambition to learn and develop.
The Role
Working nationally, you will identify, develop and progress project opportunities from initial enquiry and specification through to contractor engagement, distribution and order.
Responsibilities will include:
- Identifying and developing new project opportunities nationally
- Building relationships with consulting engineers, civil engineers, contractors, developers, groundworkers and drainage specialists
- Working with consultants and engineers to help develop product specifications
- Following live projects through the various stages from specification and tender to procurement and order
- Developing strong relationships with civils merchants and distribution partners
- Following up quotations, tenders and project leads
- Managing a healthy project pipeline and maintaining accurate CRM information
- Attending customer, consultant, contractor and site meetings throughout the UK
- Working closely with internal technical and commercial teams
- Developing your technical knowledge to become a credible and trusted point of contact for customers

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Get help with your application
Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
Previous knowledge of attenuation, flow controls, SuDS or drainage design would be advantageous, but isn't essential for someone with strong transferable experience and the aptitude to learn. The formal brief also treats this specialist product knowledge as desirable rather than essential.
The Opportunity
This isn't simply about filling an established sales territory.
The successful person will be joining a business that has invested significantly in its UK operations and has ambitious plans for growth within Water Management. You'll have the opportunity to develop alongside the business, take increasing ownership of the market and make a genuine contribution to its future success.
For someone bright, ambitious, hardworking and keen to make a name for themselves within the industry, this offers excellent long-term potential.
The package includes a competitive basic salary, 20% performance-related bonus, £6,000 car allowance, 25 days' holiday plus Bank Holidays, together with ongoing technical support and development.
